From mechanistic models to breeding digital twins: Predictive plant improvement for a changing climate

Published in Ecological Genetics and Genomics, 2026

Short Review. Sole-authored. Frames predictive plant improvement as a breeding digital twin problem – a twin must specify a breeding referent, mutable state vector, counterfactual action space, utility function, and prospective audit – using sweet corn as a stress test across endosperm genetics, product-system quality, seed feasibility, genomic prediction, breeding simulation, and decision science.
