The study imaged 300 rice genotypes grown under sufficient and deficient nitrogen. Machine-learning models predicted biomass-based nitrogen use efficiency (NUEb) from the images without destructive sampling, and three donor genotypes (IC463705, Suweon and Cauvery) were identified.
